ATM Forensics

Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) are the alternative forms of banking. They are everywhere, they are accessible and convenient. They used to be just for cash dispensing or balance inquires. Today they offer services such as mobile phone top ups, payments of bills, money transfer etc.

ATMs are digital devices, in effect not different to your PC or laptop when it comes to their digital part. Most of them operate with Windows operating system, although recently many are changing to Linux.

Strathclyde Forensics is offering a comprehensive approach to ATM forensic investigation.

When an ATM crashes, all local storage devices may be damaged, and might be in need of a data recovery operation.

Treating the ATM as any other digital device, and following standard forensic protocols, we can endeavour to retrieve lost data or find any interference from any external source.
