Incident Response

Today's computer dependant society and businesses, provide the ground for people who want to use the digital media in their disposal in order to perform their illegal activities, to pray on unsuspected victims, and to extract vital information from businesses, the government and other organisations.

There are different types of leaks and breaches of computer systems, and there are different kind of attacks, depending on the target, the means available to the perpetrators and the final objectives. Some attacks make a lot of fuzz, a lot of noise and they intend to be made known to the public. This includes attacks on the websites of famous companies (i.e. Microsoft) or government websites. The attack can be organised by hackers of different backgrounds and ideologies. Some attacks aim to cause maximum financial damage (i.e. when bringing down an online banking site or a site like EBay) or make a statement (i.e. the attack at the site of an oil company by environmental activists). Some hacking used to be just for the challenge, with targets like NASA and the Pentagon.

No matter what the reason behind the breach of an IT infrastructure, an illegal act remains illegal, and its investigation is required, not only to bring the perpetrators to justice and to protect the victims, but also to identify the weaknesses of the system, and seal them.

Once an event has been reported, there is a need for an immediate response.

The Incident Response Team (IRT) is the plan-A for a specific kind of an event. The plan, deployment, analysis, reaction and decision making depends on the type of the event.

Please feel free to contact us, to discuss your needs and plan the appropriate action for your organization. If however you have an emergency, we shall endeavour to deal with your issue within the next few hours.
